Electro-Harmonix PercolatorDrive/Fuzz Effects Pedal
Dynamic harmonic saturator with asymmetrical clipping, bias control and ripping fuzz tones
Overview
The Electro-Harmonix Percolator Drive/Fuzz Effects Pedal is a modern take on one of the most mysterious and sought-after dirt circuits in pedal history. Inspired by a rare 1970s design from a Milwaukee audio repair shop, the Percolator delivers everything from raunchy overdrive and chewy transistor drive to gated fuzz chaos and explosive harmonic saturation. With asymmetrical clipping that emphasizes even-order harmonics, this pedal responds dynamically to your playing and offers a wild, expressive range of tones from smooth and musical to face-rippingly fierce.
Features
The Percolator’s core sound comes from an interactive gain circuit that reacts strongly to pick attack, guitar volume and playing dynamics. Lower settings can produce warm drive and edge-of-breakup texture, while higher settings push the pedal into heavy fuzz, pseudo-octave character and sputtery gated destruction.
Three knobs and one toggle switch provide a surprisingly deep range of control. HARMONICS adjusts input gain, moving the pedal from overdrive into full fuzz saturation. BALANCE sets the overall output level, making it easy to match your bypassed signal or push an amp harder. BIAS changes the behaviour of the gain circuit, unlocking smoother drive, octave-like artifacts and Velcro-style gated fuzz textures.
The DRIVE/FUZZ toggle changes the character of the clipping section. In FUZZ mode, the clipping diodes are engaged for heavy, aggressive fuzz sounds. In DRIVE mode, the diodes are lifted, giving the pedal a rawer transistor-drive feel with a crunchy, organic response. An internal trim pot lets players further enhance sub-octave content while adding extra gain for massive distortion and deeper rumble.
A mechanical relay true-bypass design keeps the signal path clean when the pedal is off. The footswitch also supports both latching and momentary operation, allowing normal on/off switching or quick bursts of fuzz by pressing and holding the switch for instant transitions between bypass states.

Why you should buy this
The Electro-Harmonix Percolator is a strong choice for players who want a dirt pedal with real personality, touch sensitivity and a huge range of textures. It can behave like a raw transistor drive, a harmonic-rich fuzz, a gated noise machine or a pseudo-octave chaos box depending on how you set it. With modern controls added to a legendary circuit concept, the Percolator is ideal for players who want their overdrive and fuzz tones to feel unpredictable, expressive and alive.
